WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House is working with state officials to provide replacement ballots after the destruction of ballots in drop boxes in the Northwestern U.S. states of Washington and Oregon, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
“It is unacceptable. Every eligible American has the right, has the right to make their voices heard,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a news briefing.
Police believe three suspected arsons at ballot drop boxes in Washington and Oregon are linked. The FBI is investigating, Jean-Pierre said.
“We’re working with state officials, providing replacement ballots to those affected, and are working to protect against future incidents,” she said.
