Jerusalem-Bound Bus Targeted in Deadly West Bank Shooting, 12-Year-Old Killed

By The Media Line Staff

A 12-year-old boy was killed and several others wounded in a terror attack targeting a Jerusalem-bound bus near the West Bank late Wednesday night. The gunman opened fire at a junction near the Palestinian town of al-Khader, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported.

The child was transported in critical condition to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in Jerusalem, where doctors declared his death early Thursday despite intensive medical efforts. He was traveling home with his family from the Beitar Illit settlement, officials said.

Three others were injured in the attack. A woman sustained moderate wounds, while two others suffered light injuries. The bus, riddled with bullets, continued to the Tunnels Checkpoint after the shooting, where passengers fled the vehicle as security forces responded to the gunfire.

The shooter remains at large, with the IDF launching a manhunt and setting up roadblocks while encircling Bethlehem. Violence in the West Bank has surged since the October 7 Gaza war, which triggered widespread unrest and terror attacks across the region.

The attack follows other recent incidents, including a car-ramming attack and a shooting at Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus. Since October 7, 42 Israelis have been killed in terror attacks, with 800 Palestinians reported dead in the West Bank during Israeli military operations. The IDF attributes the majority of Palestinian deaths to gunmen and attackers engaged in violence.
